2xN power splitters can be formed by taking a lxN splitter design and replacing the first stage lx2 splitter with a 2x2 splitter in the first stage. A broadband 2xN splitter is a critical component for PON.
Additional input port can give the optical monitoring function and the extra path to secure a system stability to PON.
